Integrated packaging becomes the next layer of warehouse automation
Warehouse automation is increasingly being judged beyond storage density and picking speed. The performance of the packing and shipping stages also affects material consumption, transport efficiency and the ability to respond to new regulation. Against that backdrop, Element Logic and Ranpak have established a strategic global partnership.
The arrangement brings Ranpak’s end-of-line packaging technologies into Element Logic’s broader warehouse automation projects. It is designed to connect operational data and equipment across fulfilment rather than optimise the packing station in isolation.

From separate stations to a connected flow
Ranpak systems can automatically choose, erect and right-size a box for an order. The company’s offering also covers box closing, computer vision and paper-based product protection. When combined with Element Logic’s system engineering, software and integration capabilities, these functions can be planned alongside picking and material handling.
That integration has practical Industry 5.0 implications. A warehouse can use automation to standardise repetitive work while directing packaging more precisely to the product and order profile. Better-sized cartons may reduce excess material and the empty volume moved through transport. Automated processes can also make output more consistent and support higher throughput.
The approach does not remove the need to design around the actual operation. Product dimensions, order variability, line layout and required capacity will determine how much value an integrated system can deliver. The partnership nevertheless gives customers a broader technology framework for addressing these factors in one project.

Efficiency and compliance pressures converge
The companies link the cooperation to rising sustainability expectations and the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation being phased in across the European Union. Packaging automation can therefore serve both operational and resource-efficiency objectives: less unnecessary material, better use of transport space and clearer control of the outbound process.
Element Logic intends to extend its offer across inbound logistics, storage, order fulfilment, packaging and shipment. Ranpak adds specialist capabilities at the final stage, creating a combined proposition for companies modernising intralogistics without treating packaging as an afterthought.
Element Logic CEO Ankush Malhotra said the partnership strengthens the company’s packaging portfolio. Ranpak CEO Omar Asali described the arrangement as a way to embed end-of-line capabilities in wider intralogistics designs.
