Digital load carrier control gives Fiege a wider view of logistics assets

Load carriers are essential industrial assets, but their movements and financial value are often tracked through separate processes. Fiege is addressing that fragmentation with a digital deployment of Loopario’s Load Carrier Management System, starting with tyre racks across its tyre logistics operations.

The logistics group manages approximately 4.7 million load carriers at 131 sites in 15 countries. Its fleet includes standard items such as Euro pallets, mesh boxes and H1 pallets, alongside customer-specific equipment and tyre racks. Bringing these categories into a shared digital structure is intended to improve visibility over stock, transfers and cost exposure.

A practical Industry 5.0 use case

The project links operational records with commercial valuation. Movement data from Fiege’s transport management environment has previously been only partly integrated, while monthly valuation was handled separately. Loopario’s LCMS is designed to close that gap.

For an industrial logistics network, the benefit is not limited to better reporting. More reliable inventory and cost data can support earlier intervention when losses or discrepancies arise. Digital participation by business partners should make account reconciliation faster, while standardised workflows can reduce repetitive administration. This combines automation with a more targeted use of specialist teams rather than treating technology as a substitute for operational expertise.

Fiege’s stated objectives are to assess the commercial value of pallet and load carrier movements more completely, increase automation and expand the services offered to customers. The approach also supports a stronger loss-prevention discipline by making the underlying process data more accessible.

Phased deployment and evaluation

A consulting phase began in November 2025, followed by operational deployment in July 2026. During the first phase, tyre racks at all relevant Fiege sites are being managed in LCMS alongside existing systems. Process capture, data consolidation and workflow standardisation are scheduled through October 2026.

Fiege plans to evaluate the results before extending the platform step by step to other load carrier categories from the second quarter of 2027. The initiative is supported by an existing investment relationship: F-LOG, Fiege’s ventures unit, has a stake in Loopario. That connection gives the rollout both an operational and strategic dimension.
