New Moffett Automation centre puts integrated warehouse technology under the spotlight

A €4 million investment in Monaghan will create a development and demonstration environment for the software and engineering behind warehouse automation.

New Moffett Automation centre puts integrated warehouse technology under the spotlight

Moffett Automation has begun groundwork on a €4 million Centre of Excellence at its headquarters in Clontibret, County Monaghan. The project gives the Irish automation company a dedicated base for research and development, as well as a location where warehouse systems can be demonstrated in an operationally relevant context.

The investment reflects a central challenge in modern automation: performance depends on more than the equipment installed on a warehouse floor. Software intelligence, mechanical engineering and the processes they control must work together if operators are to gain a reliable and adaptable system.

From individual technologies to system integration

Moffett Automation’s integrated offer combines software intelligence, engineered automation and lifecycle support. The new centre is intended to make that combination tangible, allowing the company to develop solutions and show how they address the practical demands faced by warehouses and their technology partners.

That approach is relevant to Industry 5.0 discussions, where digital capability is expected to support resilient, responsive and useful industrial operations rather than automation being treated as an isolated technology purchase. The source announcement does not specify particular sustainability targets or workforce programmes for the building, but it does place emphasis on applying technology to operational challenges.

For manufacturers, distributors and logistics operators considering automation, a dedicated demonstration environment can support better-informed decisions about integration, controls and lifecycle requirements. It can also give solution partners a shared setting in which to examine how software and equipment interact before a system is deployed.

Moffett Automation works through a global network of integrators and also undertakes projects directly. The new facility may therefore serve two connected purposes: advancing the company’s own development work and strengthening communication across the delivery ecosystem.

Construction begins at the Monaghan headquarters

Founder and managing director Sam Moffett said the start of work was an important step for the company’s Monaghan team. He highlighted the need for software and engineering to function together in practice and said the centre would be shaped by the challenges encountered by customers and partners.

The groundwork is the first construction stage at the headquarters site. No further schedule or technical specification has been announced. The company’s project information is available through its Centre of Excellence page.
